KING Cetshwayo District Director of Education, David Chonco has challenged the Ngwelezana Circuit to improve its matric results.

Chonco said he was convinced that the circuit was capable of producing at least an 85% pass rate in matric results this year.

His speech was delivered by Senzo Dube, a senior manager in the District Office, during the Ngwelezana Circuit Awards Ceremony held at Grantham Park Primary School last week.

The event was also addressed by the outgoing Ngwelezana Circuit Manager, Vusi Mhlungu.

He told teachers to continue celebrating excellence.

‘As a circuit, we believe in keeping and maintaining good results. This culminates from the good foundation laid by primary school teachers. ‘We need to know what we did right to get such good results. We also need to know what didn’t work so we can do away with these,’ said Mhlungu.

He also praised good leadership and support of Inkosi Khulumangifile Zungu, his people and trade unions.

Ngwelezana Circuit has about 12 high schools. Best performing individual teachers and schools were awarded for their hard work.

Empangeni High School scooped various sports, cultural activities and academic awards, the school was also the overall winner of the day.
