CANSA calls upon community to enter Relay for Life teams

- Conelia Harry

THE community of Zululand is called upon to support the CANSA Relay For Life event this Saturday, to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those who have passed on and help create awareness about cancer.

Hosted at the ZCBF Community Park from 6pm to 6am, local businesses, companies, schools, community groups and members of the community are urged to enter their teams and pay tribute to all those affected by cancer, as well as those who treat and counsel them.

Registration for all cancer survivors attending must be submitted as soon as possible for catering purpose as there will be a special treat for them.

With the aim of representing hope that all of those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, those who are fighting cancer will be supported and that one day cancer will be eliminated, Relay For Life embraces the entire community.

Teams raise funds before and during the relay and these funds are dedicated to funding CANSA’s unique, integrated service within your community.

Members take turns to walk or run around a track for 12 hours and the goal is to keep one team member on the track at all times, as ‘cancer never sleeps’.

Entry per person is R50 or R500 per team of 10.

Pensioners (65yrs) and children between 2 to 13 years pay R25 while children under two are free.

For more information or to register contact Marian on 061 3605230 or Xolani 062 0663804.
