FIFTY-FOUR patients underwent free eye screening tests at Melomed Hospital on Friday morning courtesy of Dr Shaneel Singh with the intention of having their eyes checked for diabetes, cataracts and cysts.

The initiative aims at creating eye health awareness among the local community and to aid the overflowing government hospitals by treating and screening patients.

Dr Singh screened 20 patients in his first round.

All patients who did not have medical aid, were given referral letters as well as appointment dates at various government hospitals, with the private patients getting the necessary treatment at Melomed.
