Kudos to determined Nkonyane

Eyethu Baywatch - - LETTERS -

IT is very inspiring and also encouraging to learn about people who do not allow circumstances in their lives to stand in the way of their aspirations.

I was very touched when I saw a photograph of Thandeka Nkonyane circulating on social media and an article titled ‘From vendor to a teacher’ published in the Bay Watch last week (21 November).

Thandeka is one of many women and men who have proven that giving up on anything is never an option.

While selling fruit, sweets and soft drinks to students at the Unisa campus in Richards Bay for a living, she was still able to pursue her dream of becoming a qualified teacher and will be graduating next year.

I salute her and others who are doing the same and I hope many young people can follow the example.
