Charity needs support to help children

- Conelia Harry

RICHARDS Bay’s local charity Walk in Faith is working on its next project and is collecting stationery for children in need.

The organisation’s annual uniform and stationery collection drive is in full swing, with 203 youngsters urgently requiring school supplies for the beginning of the new term.

According to charity founder Merinda Ackerman, supplies have been collected for 37 children and they are appealing to the community to assist with the outstanding items such as stationery, school bags, lunch boxes and uniforms.

‘We also facilitate a lunch feeding scheme for 34 children and provide sandwiches at two schools on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

‘We are heavily reliant on donations and sponsors to continue our work and forever grateful for the community’s support in helping us to meet the needs of those who have fallen on tough times,’ said Ackerman.
