- Muzi Zincume

THE KZN Education Department announced it is ready to administer the May/June 2022 National Senior Certificate and Senior Certificate examinations, with writing starting on Monday and the final papers set for Thursday, 23 June.

There are about 36 850 candidates, of which 18 453 are writing the National Senior Certificate Repeater and 18 397 candidates writing their first exams.

Education MEC Kwazi Mshengu said his department has put into place measures to ensure incidentfree examinations. This includes strict adherence to the education sector's standard operating procedures for the prevention and management of Covid-19.

‘Candidates without identity documents due to the floods will be allowed to write the examinations because the department has a schedule of all registered candidates,’ said Mshengu.

‘Admission letters have been sent to Education District Offices for distribution to candidates who will be writing. All candidates are reminded to collect examination admission letters [time tables] at examination centres, schools, or district offices where they are registered.’

Mshengu said he's confident that

they are ready to deliver ‘credible examinations’.

‘As always, we appeal to our communities to work with us to ensure that these examinations are not disrupted in any way.

‘My message to candidates is that they should always remember that there is no substitute for hard work and following a good study plan. Do not be anxious and always remember the importance of abiding by the rules and regulations of the examination,’ he said.
