The weekend look

This fresh minimal-makeup look is easy to achieve and suitable for everyday wear – think dewy skin and lightweight formulas.

- STEP ONE: Moisturise and prime the skin. STEP NINE: ‘Use a lipliner to frame the lips and blend it in with your lip colour,’ says Melissa. ‘I’ve used a nude glossy colour to make Estelle’s lips appear fuller.’

STEP TWO: Dot concealer onto the eye area, using your fingers to blend it in. The warmth of your fingers heats the product, allowing it to absorb into the skin. Use a lightweight formula two shades lighter than your complexion. It’s the best way to hide dark circles and brighten the area.

STEP THREE: Swap your foundation brush for a stippling brush. ‘It buffs the product into your skin, creating an airbrushed effect. The brush doesn’t absorb a lot of product, so your foundation will last longer,’ says Melissa. ‘Also, mix a tinted moisturiser and a CC cream to create a foundation. A heavy foundation settles into the fine lines of your face and creates emphasis there. But the CC cream makes the skin look dewy and fresh.’

STEP FOUR: Comb your brows upwards with a small brush. Fill them in using short sweeping strokes, mimicking little eyebrow hairs. Then brush through the brows again to soften the edges, and keep them in place with a brow gel. Use your eyebrow brush to measure where your filled-in brow should end. Place it diagonally near the corner of your eye socket – this indicates where to stop applying product.

STEP FIVE: Use a cream eyeshadow in a neutral hue with a slight sheen. ‘This can act as your eyeshadow primer,’ says Melissa. ‘Don’t be scared to use a fair amount of product if you have a lot of lid to cover.’

STEP SIX: Sweep taupe matte eyeshadow into the crease of your eye; this will help lessen the appearance of a hooded eyelid.

STEP SEVEN: Frame the lids with a bronze eyeliner. Apply it on the bottom line, starting from the pupil, outwards. Blend with a brush to soften.

STEP EIGHT: ‘I mixed two shades of blusher for Estelle to create a peachy tone,’ says Melissa. ‘Always tap off the excess product from your brush before applying to the apples of the cheeks.’

PRO TIP: ‘I haven’t used powder to set Estelle’s foundation as powder absorbs moisture and can make the skin appear older,’ says Melissa.
