5 quick-fire questions

-

1. What would your last (three-course!) meal be?

Anything that I didn’t have to cook and it would be nice to have my family and my boyfriend Phil there and someone to tidy and wash up afterwards.

2. Which would you rather give up if you had to: tomatoes or lemons?

Definitely lemons, and not because I don’t like them. If you have my new cookbook, I have an entire chapter dedicated to the tomato and they are so versatile, good for you and you can make a variety of recipes from the simple tomato. I would miss my lemon wedge in my cider in the evening though…

3. What is your favourite local food?

Gesmoorde snoek! My dad smokes his own snoek at home in a large drum covered with wet hessian. He then makes the most delicious braised snoek with onions, potatoes, a little tomato, chilli and LOVE (the ultimate secret ingredient).

4. What five ingredients do you always have in your pantry?

• Tomatoes – but they are ripening on the kitchen windowsill • NoMU chicken fond (stock) • Flaming Tiger Sriracha Chilli Sauce, locally produced by my sister and brother-in-law • Fresh cream • Maldon sea salt

5. What is your comfort dish?

Anything my Dad cooks – I think he is the greatest cook on earth and we are lucky that he cooks for his five girls and all our partners, children and friends every Tuesday night. And chips... as in crisps. Any flavour – looove chips!
