Take five!

Fairlady - - WINE O’CLOCK -

Beaumont New Baby 2016 (R335) is a baby that’s beautiful to everyone, not just its parents. A blend of old vine Chenin, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon and Colombard, it was awarded five stars by Platter. Complex, subtle and gorgeous to drink with light meals. Creation Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon 2017 (R161) is an energetic Bordeaux-style blend that carries the tiniest hint of salty sea in its summer-fruit depths. It starts off creamy and finishes dry… and it’s lovely with food: its spiciness adds to most meals. Nederburg The Young Airhawk Sauvignon Blanc 2016 (R189) This barrel-fermented wine won gold at The Drinks Business Global Sauvignon Blanc Masters 2017 competition. There’s fruit, but it’s flinty too, which makes it a lovely companion to seafood. Whalehaven Conservation Coast Chardonnay 2014 (R360) is a coolclimate, sea-breeze wine with a beautiful illuminated gold colour and a rich fullness that slowly fades to a light citrus. It’s won a load of awards, for good reason – it’s a special wine that will linger with you long after its delicate aftertaste. Sumaridge Maritimus 2013 (R149,50) is a perfectly balanced blend of Chardonnay, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc that comes from cool, flinty Walker Bay and somehow manages to be both crisp and ripe at the same time. It’s beautifully balanced and will hold its own with any meal.
