LETHAL WHITE

- ROBERT GALBRAITH Liesl Robertson

If, like my colleague Caryn, you like a book with ‘a bit of a murder’, settle in: it happens only about halfway into this 647-page tome. (I’m guessing no one had the guts to tell JK to rein it in.) Still –not complaining: Strike and Robin are as charming a team as ever – though she’s now married to the tedious Matthew – and the plot has multiple twists.

Robin, still suffering from PTSD after her brush with the Shacklewell Ripper, goes undercover to dig up some dirt for a client who’s being blackmailed. Strike, meanwhile, is now too famous to go unnoticed, so he’s off on what may well be a wild goose chase: a tip-off that didn’t come from the most reliable source. A lengthy read, but well worth the three-year wait.
