WHAT WE’RE LOVING

One staffer claims she’s found the best TV show of 2019, one got a handpoked tattoo and another roamed the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Meanwhile, the rest of us are arguing about fudge…

FUDGED RESULTS

We did an informal tasting of these packs of Quinnies Homemade Fudge in the office, and (after much debate) came to absolutely no consensus about which flavour was the best. Some voted for the sweet, creamy white chocolate fudge. Others chose the coffee fudge – the hint of coffee tempers the sweetness nicely. The milk chocolate fudge was also popular, and a fairly vocal group preferred the traditional vanilla fudge to all the others. So if you were hoping for some kind of specific recommendation, we’re no help at all. Available from quinnies.co.za Liesl

Over the moon

Although everyone in the office was joking that I got a prison tattoo, I think this handpoked piece of art was well worth the teasing.

Through her initiative, Moon Magic, local tattoo artist Nichole is connecting a tribe of women with the same delicate, handpoked full moon tattoo. The idea is to celebrate our femininity, each other and our connection to nature. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Girl Child project, which is dedicated to educating and empowering young girls about menstruation, self-worth, feminine hygiene and sexual rights. The Girl Child campaign provides reusable menstrual products so that girls don’t have to miss school because they have their period.

Before the tattooing begins, Nichole conducts a special ceremony and meditation with you, burning incense and helping you formulate your own meanings for the tattoo. The whole process was incredibly gentle – it was less painful than having my eyebrows plucked! I’m so pleased with how my little moon baby came out, and I’m over the moon to be a part of this initiative. Instagram: @moonmagictattoos__
