Know your notes
we have all stood there, nodding along with our eyes glazed over as the shop assistant rattles on about top notes and base notes. It’s actually quite simple, though – it’s really about how a scent evolves over time.
The top note is the strongest scent after your initial spritz. Wait at least 15 minutes to allow the top note to dissipate enough to give way to the middle note. This note is the body of the perfume that will linger on your skin for about four hours. The bottom or base notes are the underlying scents that form the foundation of the fragrance, and usually last for the rest of the day. These are often heavy, earthy smells such as woods, musks and vanilla.
