Nivea Happy Time Orange Blossom & Avocado Oil Oil in Lotion, R55

The instruction on the

product recommends daily application on your whole body. The lotion absorbs easily and fast on application, and my skin felt smooth and moisturised all day. Even though the lotion contains oil, it doesn’t feel sticky or oily on your skin. It’s probably thanks to the added avocado oil that the texture feels more luxurious than that of your average daily lotion. I love the orange blossom scent, which is fresh and light.

The Vanilla & Almond Oil and Cherry Blossom & Jojoba Oil variants are just as lovely. – Crystal

Healing Body Butter Sleep, R225

Most of us have had to deal with a change in our sleep pattern, mostly brought on by… *gestures vaguely at everything*. Sleep deprivation is no longer the badge of honour it used to be, or something we need to just get over with a little helper. Now, there are plenty of holistic options on offer, including body butters like this one. Healing Body Butter Sleep is filled with essential oils, vitamins and other nutrients that not only help to nourish your skin but also leave you feeling calm. I used it after my shower before jumping into bed: the jasmine really comes through, an dit helped me unwind after a stressful day, allowing me to drift off to sleep. The product is also cruelty-free and vegan-friendly, and the container is completely biodegradable. A win!

Skin Oil From Africa Hemp Seed Body Lotion, R80

We seem to be smitten with weed of late. And while you can give pretty much anything a CBD makeover nowadays, hemp has actually been on the market for ages. I’ve long been a fan. It works with most skin types and is great for moisturising your skin without clogging your pores. So I was very eager to try out this body lotion. The vitamin E and hemp seed oil help to moisturise the skin, leaving it feeling silky and smooth. Skin Oil From Africa uses oil harvested by cold-pressing hemp seeds, which allows more of the characteristics and benefits of the seed to shine through. Overall, I love this product. It’s thick, but doesn’t leave a residue – and it’s so reasonably priced too. – Sally

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil (50ml), R345

I love this product! It makes my skin glow from head to toe, and I feel completely moisturised and gorgeous-smelling all ay. Nuxe products have nt that’s hard to pinpoint: sort of warm and woody… whatever it is, it’s addictive. This lovely dry oil not only soothes and repairs my face and body, it also keeps my curly hair under control while adding a bit of shine. My skin is very dry, so I need all the moisture I can get. One of the best things about this oil is that it works like a bomb without leaving any greasy residue at all. It’s a must-have! – Liezel

Skin Oil From Africa Softening Rosehip Oil Body Cream, R90

I love the musky floral smell of this cream – it reminds me of those delicious pink lollypops I used to eat as a kid. It is light and easy to apply, which I like, and it’s easily absorbed. It left my skin feeling silky and smooth. My only slight disappointment was that even though my skin stayed beautifully moisturised all day, the scent wore off quite quickly… I was enjoying my lollipop memories! – Logan

Dr. Hauschka Lavender Sandalwood Calming Body Cream, R495

I recently revamped my bathroom, so enjoying a bath in my ‘new’ space is something I look forward to daily. After the bath, while my skin is still moist, I apply the Dr. Hauschka Lavender Sandalwood Calming Body Cream… and the deep relaxation I feel after is the understatement of the century! The subtle comforting scents of lavender are complemented by warm tones of sandalwood, and my skin feels smooth and soft. This product is free of synthetic fragrances, dyes and preservatives, and it’s vegan, which makes it worth every cent. –Liza

Healing Earth Marula & Neroli Relax Oil, R471

You’d have to eat a pocketful of oranges to get the same amount of vitamin C that this power punch of marula oil delivers; it’s also a powerful anti-inflammatory, so that’s good. But what I really love about this silky body/bath/massage oil is the scent: there’s something about neroli that appeals to me; it’s fresh without being sharp. This starts out very strong but settles to a delicate, soft, warm scent of summer. I really like it. – Suzy

Lamelle Serra Soothing Body Lotion, R325

This is a great one for sensitive skin. Developed specifically to relieve dryness and soothe itchiness, it contains a patented ingredient called Ceramide-P to restore the skin barrier. Slather it on after a shower when your skin is still slightly damp; the hyaluronic acid helps trap the moisture. It’s a light lotion that absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling smooth and hydrated, minus the greasiness. The fragrance is barely there but adds a little something, and I love that it’s a local brand. – Liesl

Lulu & Marula Energising Body Balm, R270

A word of warning – don’t put this on right before you squeeze into a pair of jeans. It’s made from a cocktail of oils and butters, so it’s very much a balm, not a lotion. You need to warm it between your palms, massage it in and give it time to work its magic. The ingredients include all-natural goodness like sweet almond oil, mango seed butter, avocado seed oil and Abyssinian oil – no parabens or sulphates in sight. Plus, it’s Beauty Without Cruelty accredited. The smell is lovely: citrusy (thanks to the naartjie, mandarin and lemongrass oils) without being overpowering. It’s such a lovely bedtime treat if your skin needs some TLC. – Milly

Diego dalla Palma Multi-Tasking Oil, R695

This gently fragranced oil spreads onto the skin with ease. It feels both luxurious and nourishing, with a silky, lightweight texture. When I applied it to my neck and face, it gave my skin a dewy, fresh look. The oil is absorbed quickly, without leaving a sticky or oily residue. It’s expensive, but the bottle is generously sized and I know it will last for a long time. Applying it after a shower or bath feels sublime; and with summer sun and salty skin in full swing, this adds just the right soothing touch. – Alice

Healing Earth Define & Sculpt Coff ee, Cinnamon & Orange Corrective Cream, R545

When I first saw this product, the ingredients made me think of expensive chocolate, but it was the ‘corrective cream’ that caught my attention. I still feel like I have my winter skin and need a miracle to resuscitate it. The cream is easily absorbed and made my skin feel almost instantly smoother. Made from stimulating ingredients to tone and smooth, it’s best used after a bath or shower to lock moisture in. It promises to show great results with long-term use, and the best part is that very little cream is needed per application. It has a strong, spicy scent that appealed to me but might not to everyone, so check it out before you invest. – Janine
