What was the last thing you splurged on?
I tend not to splurge on clothing or accessories; I buy two or three good pieces when I spot them. I like unique pieces; I see them as collector’s items. When I do spend a bit more it’s usually on fitness gear.
Anything you regret buying or wearing in the past?
The only thing I’ve regretted buying is ill-fitting activewear. These days I’m a big Nike and Adidas fan. I like well-made fitness bras, which both brands have mastered. I also like Adidas Ultraboost trainers for workouts.
What’s the one thing you buy over and over because you know it looks good on you?
A jumpsuit. When I buy a jumpsuit, I make sure I can wear it with both heels and sneakers. My favourite is a navyblue one from G-Star Raw.
Do you have pieces that are sentimental to you?
I went to a designer thrift-wear sale and bought a beautiful cream-white knitted wedding dress that I still haven’t worn because… well, life has no respect for my plans!
What’s your go-to power outfit?
It’s a toss-up between a crisp white shirt and crisp white sneakers. A good white shirt is tough to find in South Africa. Country Road makes some good-quality ones, and I try to make sure I buy a good shirt whenever I travel. Fabric and cut are very important when it comes to a classic white shirt. I also love a man’s suit tailored to my body shape, preferably in navy blue. I tend to find some really good vintage pieces at second-hand stores – if the fit isn’t right, I take it to a tailor for adjustments.
Where do you usually buy swimwear? Is there a style you prefer?
My favourite swimwear is from Seafolly and South African designer brand BeachCult.
What kind of jewellery do you wear?
I love stacking a variety of gold chains around my neck – it’s fun and appeals to the side of me that loves streetwear and hip-hop, but they can be worn with anything. My earrings are usually big gold hoops. I’m also a gold bangle fan. South African designers Famke and Dear Rae are among my favourites.
Any local designers or shops that you think deserve a shout-out?
I’m a big supporter and fan of South African designers Imprint ZA, Sitting Pretty and Klûk!
Top styling tip?
