LIFESTYLE CHANGES
Pandemic comfort eating, hormone changes, disrupted exercise with lockdowns, and a new relatively sedentary job meant that I piled on some kilos. I felt sluggish, and unhappy with my body. I have never been a fan of diets, finding them too restrictive and unsustainable. But the article ‘How to eat to lose weight: the 9 rules’ (July/August 2021) made a lot of sense to me. I was, however, aghast at Rule No. 1: Eliminate alcohol for two weeks. My two glasses of wine each evening were a norm for me, and I jokingly referred to them as my only vice! No ways was I going to give them up.
So the magazine was put aside for a while until I could no longer ignore my weight, and I decided to go the whole hog with the nine rules. I will not lie: the first few days without my familiar evening ritual were not easy, but I used my willpower and two weeks went by.
Fast-forward two months. I obey the nine rules, cherishing my weekend wine and doing without it during the week. To date, I have lost 6.5 kg, and I recently sailed through all my wellness tests, except the BMI, but that is a work in progress. I am sleeping better. I feel energetic, positive and empowered.
I have made sustainable lifestyle changes with the help of FAIRLADY, and am so thankful for the reset. Jackie Faulconbridge
Ed: That’s such an excellent result, Jackie – well done! I feel inspired to follow up for a post-holiday reset (once all the New Year celebrations are over, of course). Thank you for letting us know how it worked out for you, and happy New Year!
