A BOUQUET OF ROSÉS TO SHARE WITH YOUR SWEETHEART
LE LUDE RESERVE BRUT ROSÉ NV, R345 This Cap Classique wine, a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, has a subtle initial saline inflection that levels out nicely. Definitely one for a special occasion!
MURATIE JOHANNA DRY ROSÉ, 2022, R135 Named after a retired grape picker on the farm, this was a firm favourite with the panel. A slight floral bouquet leads to subtle balanced notes of jasmine and Turkish Delight.
NOBLE SAVAGE ROSÉ 2021, R95 Light and slightly floral, this is a fun, quaffable wine.
BELLINGHAM THE QUINTESSENTIAL COUPLE ROSÉ 2018, R318 This is a stirring love story between Pinotage and Shiraz grapes. Rich and complex, it came off a little like a wooded Chardonnay.
BROOKDALE MASON ROAD SERENDIPITY, R112 This is a delicate and delicious rosé with an impressive structure. Well done to young winemaker Kiara Scott!
KRONE VINTAGE ROSÉ CUVÉE BRUT 2021, R189 With its romantic antique pink colour, fine bubbles and long finish, this would be a beautiful bubbly to drink with a Valentine’s breakfast.
QUEST BRUT ROSÉ MÉTHODE CAP CLASSIQUE NV, R200 The 88% Chardonnay (the rest is Cinsault) comes through on the palate. It’s a fresh, light bubbly with hints of watermelon.
CHARLES FOX RESERVE ROSÉ CAP CLASSIQUE, R250 With initial candyfloss on the nose, this is a beautifully dry and balanced bubbly. It was a hit with the panel, and will make a perfect toast to love!
FALSE BAY WHOLE BUNCH CINSAULT MOURVÈDRE ROSÉ 2022, R69 This rosé with is pretty pale-gold hue is perfect for a long romantic lunch, preferably near a sparkling pool. It is excellent value.
LEOPARD’S LEAP CULINARIA COLLECTION PINOT NOIR CHARDONNAY 2022, R120 We got candyfloss on the nose, and watermelon and rose on the palate. It’s a full-bodied and well-structured wine, a Veritas Gold winner that’s slightly heavier than the other nine.
