The only answer comes from a lark chirping in a nearby tree.

I would love to share the excitement, beauty and wonders of our world with somebody special.

That someone would need to be a caring, gentle person with a gigantic heart, large enough to encompass love for all life that coexists with us, plus a little left for me. Someone in his mid-60s to early 70s, healthy and energetic, with a passion for nature and a good sprinkling of adventure.

He should also be financially independent and a non-smoker.

In August 2016, my wife of 56 years passed away. Four years earlier, she had contracted cancer, and I had a stroke. As we were inadequately insured, this almost bankrupted us.

I now walk with a stick.

At 83 and not allowed to drive, I seek a female companion living near Waterfall [in Midrand, Gauteng].

I would like to meet a male friend who can tick the majority of these boxes: a single Caucasian male with a great sense of humour; aged between 68 and 75; a non-smoker and definitely no drugs; occasional social drinker, physically healthy and reasonably fit; an animal lover; someone with integrity and self-respect; financially secure; intelligent and a good conversationalist; and someone who enjoys reading, movies, walking, and pottering around in the garden and home.
