“Famous chef Delia Smith said that a hen’s egg is a masterpiece of design with brilliant packaging. At Azapak, we also aim at brilliant packaging that’s functional, eco-friendly and protects the goods in transit.”

So says Yagen Padayachee, founder of paper packaging solutions company Yagdan Manufacturing t/a Azapak.

Azapak is based in Paarl, in the Western Cape. Starting in 2007 with a single product line, it now offers 13 lines for both outer and inner packaging. The range includes corner pieces for pallet stabilisation, meat trayliners, berry and grape punnet liners, fish liners, paper bags for the industrial and fruit sectors, citrus wrappers, tissue reams, riffle, modular absorbent membrane (MAM) sheets, poultry inserts, single-face corrugated sheeting (SFK), twist ties (‘twisties’), and layer pads.

“We perform full product testing, and offer certification to ensure quality. And we supply customers and distributors in South Africa, Southern African Development Community countries, Mauritius, Egypt and Chile,” says Padayachee.

The Azapak team, with more than 100 years of combined specialist knowledge, works closely with each client to establish the optimal packaging required. The result is a solution that is fit for purpose and cost-effective.

This attention to detail is backed by massive production capability; for example, an annual output of 4 800t of corner pieces, 216 million tray liners, and 600t of citrus wrappers.

BRANDING

Azapak can fully support clients’ brand identities. It offers in-house, six-colour flexographic printing to brand most packaging products, such as corner pieces, paper bags, citrus wrappers and tissue reams.

Azapak has multiple accreditations: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000:2015, HACCP and FSSC, and uses best-practice, lean manufacturing processes, resulting in shortened lead times, quality products and exceptional customer service.

“We’re also proud of the fact that all our packaging is biodegradable and can be disposed of by combustible or compostable methods,” says Padayachee.
