8 to 9 May, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Limpopo

The Cape Parrot Big Birding Day is an annual event aimed at saving one of South Africa’s most endangered bird species, the Cape parrot ( Poicephalus robustus). Volunteers in KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape and Limpopo are encouraged to take part in the morning and evening activities, which involve counting Cape parrot numbers in the wild. This information will be used in research to help further protect this indigenous bird species.
