The US Supreme Court has ruled that a decades-old California regulation, which allows union organisers to enter agricultur­al properties without an employer’s consent, violates constituti­onal property rights.

In a case brought by two fruit companies, the court found that the regulation was akin to the government taking private property for public use without just compensati­on, in violation of the US Constituti­on’s Fifth Amendment. – Staff reporter
