C LOV E R Sweet deal

-

Clover Industries is sweetening its product portfolio this year with the addition of an Italian desserts range, CE Johann Vorster revealed last week.

The company, which has focused mainly on milk, butter, cheese, cream and beverages, this month started making value-added products such as yoghurt and custard.

This follows its takeover of certain DairyBelle business units and the ending of its noncompete agreement with Danone, which precluded it from competing in these highermargin products.

The DairyBelle deal includes the Bliss range of double cream yoghurts being absorbed by Clover, which has decided to use the Bliss name as its umbrella brand for all new dessert product launches. The Bliss dessert range, which consists of Bliss Decadence and Bliss Pudding, will be imported from Italy “until we reach the scale to manufacture it in SA”, Vorster says.

Bliss products will include tiramisu, chocolate truffle, crème caramel and other flavoured dairy desserts. New product line Value add
