Roughly 120 000 people stayed in Brazil in Airbnbrented rooms for the 2014 soccer World Cup from over 150 different countries.

Airbnb hosts in Brazil earned roughly $38m from reservations during the World Cup. The average host in Rio earned US$4 000 during the month-long tournament — about four times the average monthly salary in Rio.

Nearly 20 000 people per night are currently staying in an Airbnb-rented room in Paris compared with less than 4 000 in 2012.
