Eden give love and support at hospital
In the spirit of Madiba and his vision to create positive change to the lives of others, Eden Municipal Mayor Memory Booysen, Deputy Mayor Rosina Ruiters, Mayoral Committee members and officials visited George Hospital's paediatric ward on Mandela Day to give love and support. They handed out "care kits" with basic necessities such as toothpaste, toothbrush, detergent, face cloths, soap and blankets.
George Hospital CEO Michael Vonk sent a special letter of appreciation to Eden, thanking the Eden team on behalf of the patients and moms in the paediatric ward for spending 67 minutes at the hospital. "The generous donations and warm smiles that you brought to the hospital would definitively have brightened the day of these children, as we all celebrate Madiba's birthday." Eden Manager of Corporate/ Strategic Services, Trix Holtzhausen, thanked the officials who joined this initiative. Two Eden employees, Assistant Human Resources Manager Calvyn Scheepers and Bandile Mbalo, said the time at the hospital was well spent and it was especially good to see the smiling faces of the children when the mayor handed them the care kits. "Madiba was fond of kids and it was just appropriate that we gave our 67 minutes to these wonderful kids. There can be no greater gift than giving one's time and energy to others without expecting anything in return," said Scheepers. Mbalo said it was inspirational and an honour to contribute his 67 minutes to the goodwill of Mandela day, touching the lives of children.
