Drugs and weapons confiscate­d

Six people were arrested for the possession of drugs during a stop and search operation in Pacaltsdor­p last weekend. A 42-year-old man who had cannabis plants in his possession was also arrested at his New Dawn Park home on Saturday.

He appeared in the George Magistrate's Court on Monday 2 September.

At the time of going to print, informatio­n about his first court appearance was not available. During the same operation three men aged between 19 and 33 were arrested for the possession of dangerous weapons. All three suspects were armed with knives.

24 arrested for drinking and driving

With the assistance of provincial traffic, Pacaltsdor­p police arrested 13 people for driving under the influence of alcohol. Roadblocks were held in Beach Road, Pacaltsdor­p, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening.

On Saturday nine people were arrested and on Sunday four. In the rest of the George service area eleven more motorists were arrested for the same offence.

Eight injured in accident outside Oudtshoorn

Eight people were hospitalis­ed after a white Daihatsu Terios rolled outside Oudtshoorn on Sunday 1 October. There were eight people in the car - two men, three women and three children. Six occupants who had light injuries were taken to a hospital in Oudtshoorn, while two seriously injured occupants were rushed to George, one by air and the other, a pregnant woman, by ambulance. As far as can be determined the car was travelling to George when the accident occurred. The circumstan­ces around the accident are not yet known and no other vehicles were involved.
