Hungarian Trio at Oakhurst Insurance Arts Theatre
Be prepared to be swept along on a romantic journey by a trio of Hungarian musicians... The George Music Society presents the Hungarian Trio at the Oakhurst Insurance Arts Theatre on Friday 11 May.
The Hungarian Trio consists of highly acclaimed musicians Nerina von Meyer on flute, Gabor Jeney on violin and Donat Pellei on double bass. The programme will include something for everyone with beautiful compositions by Bach, Lehar, Strauss, Bartók, Liszt and even Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Mariza Gouws, talented flautist from Outeniqua High, will be in the Back Stage Café from 19:00 to set the atmosphere for the concert. She will be accompanied by Susan Hattingh.
Artists
Nerina von Meyer studied in Cape Town, Vienna and London. She holds an M.Mus in Performance and has performed as a soloist for many orchestras. She is also an experienced teacher and adjudicator. Gabor Jeney was born in Hungary and studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatoire in Budapest and London's Royal College of Music.
Benjamin Britten composed Gemini Variations for Gabor and his twin brother.
Donat Pellei was born in Hungary and studied at the Franz Liszt Music Academy and the Béla Bartók Conservatoire. He is a winner of the Franz Liszt Double Bass prize. He has toured Europe with many orchestras. All three musicians are based in Cape Town where they are sought after as freelance musicians.

The concert starts at 19:30 on Friday 11 May. Tickets are R150 for the public, R100 for members and R30 for learners. They are available online at www. georgemusicsociety.co.za or at the theatre before the concert.
