Be­ach cle­an-up at Kaai­mans

The Ge­or­ge branch of the

Stran­ded Ma­ri­ne A­ni­mal Res­cue Te­am (S­mart) i­ni­ti­a­ted and took part in a be­ach cle­an-up at Kaai­mans ri­ver on Wed­nes­day 9 May. Within an hour vo­lun­teers, main­ly NMU stu­dents, fil­led three bags with was­te. "We thank our vo­lun­teers who as­sis­ted. You guys are a­we­so­me and we ap­pre­ci­a­te your com­mit­ment and de­di­ca­ti­on. We are thank­ful that we could ma­ke a dif­fe­ren­ce, e­ven with just three bags. It's three less bags of was­te in the o­ce­an," said S­mart vo­lun­teer Kel­ly-Ja­ne Art­hur.

S­mart is a vo­lun­teer ba­sed non­pro­fit or­ga­ni­sa­ti­on that tends to all ma­ri­ne a­ni­mal be­a­c­hings al­ong the co­ast be­t­ween Wil­der­ness and the Gou­ritz ri­ver. Ple­a­se re­port any be­a­c­hings, de­ad or a­li­ve, on 072 227 4715.
