Trio de Musique to take centre stage
Classical music enthusiasts would not want to miss Trio de Musique's concert at Fancourt on Sunday 5 August. The trio will play a collection of their most loved music and the audience can indulge in a melodious afternoon filled with enchanted moments. The concert forms part of Fancourt's annual Classic Concert Series, which highlights the resort's continued commitment to local talent and art.
The Trio de Musique consists of three local masterclass musicians - Thomas de Bruin on the flute, Ariella Caira on the cello and Albert Combrink on the piano.
South African-born Thomas de Bruin, founder of this successful group, obtained his "Degré fin d'etude" at the National Conservatory of Lyon in France and went on to complete his B Mus Performance degree at the University of Pretoria, and a Teacher's Licentiate at Unisa. He is a versatile performer who travels nationally and has performed both solo and with various groups. Ariella Caira joined the National Youth Orchestra for three years during her high-school days and studied theatre and performance at the University of Cape Town, graduating with honours in 2008. Currently the official cellist of the band Sterling EQ, she has also collaborated with many local artists.
With an M Mus in piano performance from Natal University as well as three Unisa Licentiates - piano performance, piano accompaniment and teaching Albert Combrink has received masterclasses from international pianists such as Graham Johnson and Martino Tirimo. He has won many music competitions and made his concerto debut with the National Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 18. Since then he has performed at major centres throughout the country as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician.
The musical celebration will start at
12:30 and the entry fee of R250 per person includes a welcome drink as well as a snack platter.
