Periodontist practice opens in George

-

Dr Suzette Stander, owner of Implant Perio Inc, has been rendering a specialist service in George for over four years during scheduled visits from Port Elizabeth. She has now opened a permanent practice at 40 Victoria Street in George.

A study done in 2010 estimated periodontal disease as the sixth most prevalent condition worldwide. Periodontal disease is infection of the gum and bone supporting a tooth. Left untreated, it results in tooth loss, and impacts one's health. It is linked to heart disease, strokes and diabetes.

Dr Stander's services include implant placement, non-surgical and surgical treatment of periodontal disease, as well as oral cancer screening. Her practice boasts the latest hi-tech equipment available, including the latest 3D X-ray CBCT scanner to detect pathology not detected by conventional two-dimensional X-rays. She also performs soft tissue gum surgeries, which includes treatment of recessed teeth with soft tissue grafts. Her practice offers non-invasive laser surgery to release frenums and tongue-tie in children.

She obtained a shared degree in dentistry from the University of Stellenbosch (US) and the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in 2006. In 2009, she earned a postgraduate diploma in dental implants cum laude from UWC and in 2013 received her specialist master's degree in Periodontology, Implantology and Oral Medicine.

Dr Stander is the only periodontist in this area. Her patients' well-being is her main focus and the homely atmosphere of her rooms reflect her warm, caring personality. Patients are welcome to enjoy a cup of good coffee during their visit.
