To bring children to the theatre

-

"One day long, long ago, there was a beautiful forest. A magical forest where fairies played and danced. Inside this shadowy world, there was a very special tree. The tree was as old as Earth itself and had a very special gift to everyone that visited. It grew special fruit.

Those who were kind of heart and asked the right questions had no problem getting help from the Book Tree. The Book Tree loved sharing its fruit with everyone and making the forest dwellers happy and safe. But even in a perfect world like that of the Book Tree, there is always some trouble..."

So starts the story of The Book Tree, an exciting, fun show to be staged by the Asijike Arts team at the George Arts Theatre.

The team's aim this year was to take theatre to schools and bring schools to the theatre. The very successful The Dream Box put on in June brought over 2 900 children from schools all over George to the theatre.

This quarter the theatre is putting on a fable-like adventure that is sure to entertain.

Funny, enduring characters and a strong moral message make The Book Tree perfect for a fun family outing and opportunity to bring your child to live drama.

The Book Tree will be staged for schools from Tuesday to Friday,

13 to 16 November, with learners paying a nominal fee. Please book with Lauretta on 044

874 3142. The show is open for the public on 17 November at 11:00 at the George Arts Theatre. Tickets for this show can be bought at Computicket or at the theatre office at R50 for adults and R40 for kids.
