SWD and Boland draw in three day match

Although the SWD team had the upper hand for most of the sessions in their Cricket South Africa provincial three-day competitio­n in the match against Boland, it ended in a draw. The game was played at Eurolux Boland Park in Paarl.

Boland, who batted first, were dismissed for 257 with Marcello Piedt (5/63) who was SWD's pick of the bowlers. SWD, thanks to a century by Obus Pienaar (108; 166 balls, 13x4) and half-centuries by Yamkela Oliphant (56) and Brendon Louw (54) posted 380 for a lead of 123. In their second innings, Boland responded with 229/5. With a lead of 106 the captains shook hands late on Saturday afternoon. Both teams were fined with four bonus points for a slow over rate during the match.

SWD's next round of matches will be this weekend when they take on KwaZulu Natal Inland at the City Oval in Pietermari­tzburg.
