Making an impact and standing strong
Starting a law firm from the ground in 2007 during a bad recession was a monumental task, but with exceptional service and grit, two female partners had an impressive journey building A Chimes & Van Wyk to greater heights.
This year not only saw them move to bigger offices and celebrating their 11th anniversary, but also appointing a new director of litigation.
The founders, Adele van Wyk and Andaleen Chimes, state that it’s a great privilege to practise law in George and their business is built on trust, personal service, and word of mouth. From the outset, they wanted to do something different and create a firm with a more personal air. At its core, A Chimes & Van Wyk is a boutique firm, capable of tending to their clients’ legal needs without losing the firm’s unique personality. Some of the services the company offers include Property Transfers; Bonds, Notarial work; Company Law; Divorces, Trusts, Wills, Mediation; Trademarks, and Sequestrations and Liquidations.
Andaleen Chimes started her legal career as a conveyancing secretary with Du Plessis and Eksteen in Pretoria and was admitted as an attorney in 1988 when she became vice-secretary of the Law Society of the Transvaal (Disciplinary Division). Andi holds a BA (Hons) and BProc, is a conveyancer, a notary, a mediator, as well as a mother of two sons and a daughter.
Adele van Wyk started working in the legal profession in 1992 and holds a BCom LLB degree from Unisa. She’s an accomplished golfer, and is married with three sons who all represent Southern Cape Golf. She was ladies captain at Fancourt for 2 years and also serves on the committee of the Herold’s Bay Ratepayers Association.
Lennox Claasen has been a practising attorney since 2005, after graduating from the University of the Free State. He joined A Chimes & Van Wyk in 2016 as head of its litigation department. Lennox is also an accomplished photographer and cyclist. A Chimes & Van Wyk Inc, an accomplished law firm in George, has recently moved to new premises. They are now situated at the newly renovated building at 1 Caledon Street, across from the George Museum, and conveniently near the Magistrate’s Court.
