Christmas by Candlelight concert

The popular choir and orchestra combination of Carpe Musicam! will be working up steam in the Outeniqua Transport Museum on Saturday 15 December, starting at 19:30.

The concert, entitled Christmas by Candlelight, will be a miscellany of Christmas favourites, old and new.

The headline attraction for the event will be Voldi George, the local tenor with The Voice, who will sing Agnus Dei by George Bizet and O, Holy Night by Adolphe Adam.

There will be plenty of scope for audience members to join the 40-voice choir and 25-piece orchestra in rattling the rafters when Voldi George leads them in song. A wonderful new work for choir and orchestra, Adventum, which is based on O come, o come, Immanuel, and the traditional Ukranian Carol of the Bells will have its first public airing in George. Candles will be supplied to provide a Christmas atmosphere, enhanced by the excellent acoustics of the Transport Museum.

Come from 18:30 to browse the craft work by Carpe Musicam! members or tuck into tasty munchies supplied by Eden Lions. Boerie rolls will be for sale and platters for one can be pre-ordered at R40 each from Barbara on 072 699 4180 before 12 December. The Lions kiosk and cash bar will be open throughout the proceedings.

Tickets will be for sale at the door and are priced at R100 per adult. Learners enter for free. A limited number of plastic chairs will be provided, so it is advisable to bring your own comfy folding chair if possible. For more details, call Elsabe on 073 857 2952.
