Local tennis stars showcase their talent

The finals of the Eden Sportscent­re Mini 2, which was hosted at the Great Tennis Academy at PW Botha College, was again a showcase for the tennis talent in the Cape.

Players from schools in George proved that they can compete on an equal footing with the best and most managed to win the finals in their respective age groups.

The results of the singles finals are:

Men: Jason Fogle beat

Stephen Claassen 6-3, 6-2. Boys u.16: Franswille­m van der Merwe beat André Viljoen 7-5, 7-5.

Boys u.14: Charl Vos beat Johan Coetzee 6-1, 6-1.

Boys u.14 Gold: Caspar Otto beat Dian Carstens 6-1, 6-0. Boys u.12: Cuan Western beat Ivan Beukes 6-0, 6-1.

Boys u.12 Gold: Riley Clark beat Rijon Kasselman 5-7, 6-2, 10-6.

Boys u.10: Janu Botma beat Cooper Western 6-3, 2-6,

10-7.

Women: Heike Janse van Vuuren beat

Mienke Viljoen 7-6,

7-6.

Girls u.16: Liebe
