GO GEORGE supports ‘good green deeds’

-

Heeding Government's call to get involved in the campaign to rid South Africa of illegal dumping and littering, GO GEORGE staff tackled the area in and around the Transport Hub in Cradock Street last Friday.

The Good Green Deeds programme is a ground-breaking national initiative that seeks to change people's attitudes and behaviours towards responsible management of waste. It was officially launched on 8 March by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

"One of the green objectives of the GO GEORGE bus service is to decrease the carbon footprint of motorised transport by encouraging even car owners to rather use public transport, and by using technology that hugely limits polluting fuel gases," says James Robb, GO GEORGE manager. "We think green and totally support this effort by Government. As far as litter specifically goes, we continually encourage passengers to make use of the litter bins provided at our bus stops and the Transport Hub for easy discarding of food wrappers, cooldrink cans, bus receipts, etcetera."
