Roadie Roger cycles 22nd Cape Town Tour

-

George resident Roger Patrick, who recently turned 80, completed his 22nd Cape Town Cycle Tour (previously the Cape Argus) last Sunday.

Roger began cycling whilst at school in the UK and regularly rode up to 100 miles around the British countryside. He saved up and bought his first decent bicycle - a Viking - in December 1955 and has been using this same bicycle frame for the last 63 years.

A roadie through and through, Roger has completed various cycle races around South Africa, including the Highveld 94.7, the Jakaranda 94.7, the Amashova, the Tour Durban and the Kremetart, but the Cape Town Cycle Tour was always the highlight of his racing calendar and has lately been the only race he trains for.
