Memorial service for Heidi and her children

- Kristy Kolberg

The official search for young Cozette Scheepers (6) has been scaled down, but her family will not stop searching.

"Although Cozette's body hasn't been found we as a family will never stop searching for her. As long as she is missing, we will never have complete closure," said her father, Ettienne Scheepers.

Cozette went missing with her mother, Heidi (35) and brother, Hugo (2), on Tuesday 22 October after what was meant to be a quick visit to Herold's Bay beach, a popular beach not far from their home in Oubaai. The vehicle they were travelling in at the time of their disappearance was found at the bottom of a cliff in the Voëlklip area near Herold's Bay the next day.

Hugo and Heidi's bodies have since been recovered from the water, but Cozette is still missing.

"Although police and rescue divers have scaled down the search operation, we appeal to fishermen and surfers to be vigilant when in the water," said Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie.

Memorial service on Saturday

A memorial service will be held for Heidi Scheepers (35) and her two children,

Hugo (2) and Cozette (6), on Saturday 9 November at 10:00 at Eden Church in George.

Rumours of murder investigation put to rest

Last week Pojie confirmed that rumours of a murder investigation into the tragedy were not true. "At this stage no crime is suspected. All possibilities are being investigated, but at present only an inquest has been opened," he said.
