Hop to Spec-Savers at Paddagat

-

With the opening of Spec-Savers' third practice in George at the Paddagat Shopping Centre in December, residents don't have to look any further for affordable eye care.

Optometrist Ilze Nel has been exceptionally busy since she opened business a mere month ago and welcomes all customers to visit her practice, conveniently situated at the entrance to the Checkers supermarket. Previous employment of six years at a Spec-Savers franchise in Mossel Bay makes Nel no stranger to the Southern Cape.

With a master's degree in optometry and an international course in ocular therapeutics from the State University of New York, Nel is very excited to once again put down her roots in the Garden Route.

Her interest in diseases of the eye is complemented by an impressive piece of equipment at the practice which enables Nel to take photos of the cornea and retina, as well as the different layers in the retina. This can help to identify early signs of dreaded eye diseases such as glaucoma.

Nel's practice focuses on eye care for the whole family. She stresses the importance of having little ones' eyes tested early in the year to ensure that they don't experience difficulty to see on the blackboard in class. "Our clients cover all the age groups - from toddlers to the elderly.

“With 2020 in view, let's focus this year on vision," she says.
