Is God interested in my business?
Businesses are invited to a Business 4 Purpose conference at Shofar Church in George on 17 April where the keynote speaker will be Francois van Niekerk, founder of the Mergon Group.
"From near start-up failure in 1980, to involving God out of desperation, to running multiple businesses for
His purpose, Van Niekerk has gained unprecedented business success and the accolade of being voted one of Africa's most notable philanthropists by Forbes
Magazine in 2014," says Retha Davel, one of the conference organisers.
"Many people would probably say God is not interested in their businesses. Perhaps they would say God is holy and 'up there', whereas business is 'real world', cut-throat and sometimes rather nasty. Why would God want to be involved? But what the church and some businesses have begun to experience over the last few years, is that
real 'church' is when God's knowledge and presence is lived out in the world, in businesses, schools, families and communities, everywhere," she says.
"The second thing we are learning is that God's knowledge is very practical. He really is interested in the detail. Our businesses and lives are meant to flourish in His presence. Why? Because our lives and businesses have purpose. We are meant to love and impact others through our profits, cash flow forecasts and sales strategies. We invite business owners to come and learn more."
The other speakers at the conference are Rob Spanjaard, co-founder and
CEO of Rezco Asset Management;
Brett Johnson, founder of The Institute for Innovation, Integration and Impact, Inc, which is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area; and Ena Richards, founder and director of Work 4 A Living International.
