Conville gangs: one dead, one seriously injured
GEORGE - Alleged gang violence claimed the life of one person in Conville this week while another was left seriously injured.
On Monday evening, 21 February at approximately 18:50, a man (31) was assaulted and stabbed to death in a house in Suikerbekkie Street after he went there looking for help.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Sgt Chris Spies, the occupant of the house heard a commotion and when she opened the door a man ran into her house looking for safety.
"A group of men that were allegedly chasing the victim forcefully entered the home in Suikerbekkie Street and assaulted the man with sharp objects. He sustained multiple injuries and was later declared dead by paramedics on scene. An autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted," he said.
During a second incident on Monday evening, at approximately 19:45, police were called out to Nelson Mandela Boulevard where a man was sitting next to the fence. "Police as well as paramedics swiftly responded to the scene and upon arrival found the man with multiple injuries. He was transported to hospital by ambulance from where he was later transferred to a hospital in Cape Town," said Spies.
Spies confirmed that investigation into both incidents are at a very early stage and no suspects have been arrested.
