Animal-loving Chloé raises funds for Odin
A passionate animal-loving 12-yearold from George, Chloé Bennett, is dreaming of becoming a vet one day. But in the meantime, to be of service to her furry friends, this Grade 6 learner of Glenwood House School is hard at work, doing fundraising for the veterinary fund of Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need (Odin).
Through an exciting raffle competition, she has already managed to raise almost R25 000 for Odin. This is halfway to her target of R50 000, that will enable Odin to sterilise 77 dogs in rural communities, where there is a dire need for this.
Chloé's motto in life is that humans need to be "the voice of the animals" and that, now already at her young age, she can make a difference. She is doing the fund-raisesr through the platform of the Glenwood House leadership challenge, the Ductus
Excellentiam Challenge.
"I would like to invite the public to join me on my journey to make a difference in the world. Odin's veterinary bills can be astronomical and being a non-profit organisation, the Odin George and Oudtshoorn rescue facilities are depending on the generosity of the community to make their work possible," she says.
Chloé's quest is to reach out to local businesses and communities to give towards the veterinary fund. "Any donation is welcome. My fundraiser will continue till the end of September, which is after all SA Spay'tember month! All donations will go directly to Odin."
She is super impressed with Odin's work and her mom has to take her there every weekend where she loves to help with various tasks and walk the dogs.
