Mandrax seized near George
Two people were arrested after 15 000 Mandrax tablets and R15 000 cash were found in their possession shortly after 08:00 on Friday 9 September.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, members of the Garden Route flying squad, Outeniqua K9 unit and the public order policing unit were performing crimecombatting operations when they spotted the suspicious-looking Toyota Fortuner at a vehicle checkpoint along the N12 near the Outeniqua Pass.
The vehicle was searched and the illicit contents and cash were confiscated.
The drugs were meant to be delivered in George.
The suspects, aged 25 and 42, were arrested and expected to make their first court appearance earlier this week. By the time of going to print, no details surrounding their court appearances could be confirmed.
