No sign of missing woman at Gwaiing
"We just want her back, even if it is just her body." These were the words from the family of Luandra Minnaar (34) from Parkdene, who went missing at the Gwaiing River beach last Thursday night, 4 April.
It is alleged that Minnaar, also known as Katjie, was at the beach with a man and that they were making a fire on some rocks when the tide came in and they experienced difficulty.
The man went to seek help, only to find Minnaar gone when he returned.
Police divers, the K9-unit and a drone were used on Monday as they searched for any sign of Minnaar.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies said the search was put on hold on Tuesday due to bad weather conditions but that they would continue as soon as the weather permits.
He said Minnaar was wearing a white T-shirt and black Adidas tracksuit at the time of her disappearance. She is 1,6m tall and weighs 70kg.
According to information George Herald received,
Minnaar and her family knew the man that she was with, as she worked for him at his panel beating business at his house in Parkdene.
Minnaar's brother, Waylon Williams (23) yesterday said they last saw Minnaar when she left the house for work on Thursday morning.
Melissa Uithaler, a cousin, said Minnaar never returned, which is out of character, and the family was only informed of her disappearance around 11:00 on Friday. "We want to know what happened and we just want her back, even if it is just her body."
Police request the public to come forward with any information that could assist them to trace Minnaar, who is from Swan Street, Parkdene. She was reported missing on Friday 5 April.
