‘I established my eco-conscious hair salon 11 years ago, when I came back to Joburg after working in the film industry in Cape Town. I wanted to lay down some roots and 44 Stanley just resonated with me. It felt authentic and different to everything else – I couldn’t bear the thought of working in a mall. When you are here, it feels like you’re in the country, in a creative village with trees and plants everywhere. There is no place similar to it. I’m a true Joburg patriot – it’s my favourite city in the world. I love the go-getter attitude; I think being descendants of the original gold prospectors has made us hardy and resilient!
