Don’t you think this would make an eye-catching flag for Namibia? The elegant gemsbok (or oryx) is their national animal and the unmistakable colour of the Sossusvlei dunes is one of our neighbour’s most striking sights. Flag or not, Sossusvlei is certainly an alluring destination for South Africans. Even now, in the height of summer, it’s not a bad place to be as the desert is cooled by a sprinkling of rain in the interior. To add to the attraction of the area, there’s a new lodge that’s sprouted from the desert sands and mimics the shape of the dunes
