Bringing Africa to you

Ryan Enslin ANTIQUE STREET (P86)

An accountant by training, a writer and content creator at heart and, by day, an avid explorer and traveller, Ryan sleeps with the proverbial fully packed camera bag by his side. Based in Joburg, but ever the global communitarian, digital storytelling flows through his veins as he spends his days connecting with people, seeking to unlock their essence in the content he creates. Writing as his alter ego My Lime Boots on his digital platforms, Ryan is a proponent for responsible tourism and the restorative opportunities it affords. This passionate Joburger heads out on an urban safari looking for some rare gems in his hometown. Follow him @mylimeboots

Sarah Kindgdom NORTH LUANGWA (P92)

Growing up in Sydney, Australia, Sarahʼs first African encounter was a family safari to Zimbabwe in her early teens. She fell in love with the continent and returned on a solo trip when she was 21 – and never left. Now a travel writer and mountain guide, when sheʼs not out on an adventure, she and her husband are based on their cattle ranch near Mkushi in Zambia. North Luangwa is ʻjust up the roadʼ from home (about 400km) and Sarah has been visiting regularly for over 25 years.

Melanie van Zyl DRAKENSBERG HIKE (P74)

Avid solo traveller and freelance photojournalist, Mel has a soft spot for responsible travel and sharing the environment sustainably with the natural world. Both elements collide at Mnweni, making for a remarkable hiking adventure through the northern Drakensberg. The only catch? A whole lot of uphills. She found itʼs best to go well prepared and with a solid crew in tow.

Dianne Tipping-Woods VIRTUAL SAFARIS (P26)

Dianne writes about conservation, travel and development in southern Africa. She loves finding stories where different geographies, ideologies and cultures meet and sharing them through her work. ʻFor me, travel is about going deeper, not just further. Deeper into nature, deeper into peopleʼs lives, deeper into the issues, and deeper into each and every experience I have. I live for long days on assignment in new places, or the chance to explore familiar areas in new ways.ʼ Her only life motto, other than do good work, is ʻdon't be an assholeʼ. Dianne has two curious, smart kids and a patient husband and they live on a nature reserve in Hoedspruit. Instagram @afribird.
