Cetshwayo’s demise

After being captured in August 1879, Cetshwayo was sent into exile in Cape Town. In August 1882, he travelled to London and met Queen Victoria to plead his case to be returned to Zululand. He was secretly returned to Zululand in January 1883 but died on 8 February 1884 from a heart attack. At the time, some suspected poisoning.
