SOUTH AFRICAN CHEESE FESTIVAL POP-UP PICNICS Each weekend from 2/3 April to 30 April/1 May
SA’s legendary cheese celebration returns with a new format: a series of four weekend pop-up picnics, each one on a different wine estate, kicking off with Warwick near Stellenbosch and culminating in a fat jol at Sandringham.

SEAWEED MUSIC FESTIVAL 1–3 April
On a farm in Eston, surrounded by sugarcane fields in the KwaZuluNatal countryside, about 45 minutes from Durban, this music festival’s add-ons include yoga sessions, food stalls and camping with hot showers.

JOZI KOTA FESTIVAL 2 April
Street food, Soweto style. Kota refers to a quarter loaf of bread. But there’ll be plenty more besides Mzansi’s iconic sandwich at this lively gathering in Newtown, Jozi.

TWO OCEANS MARATHON 16–17 April
Runners will already have picked their poison: the 56km ultra on the Sunday, or the 21km smile-and-wave half-marathon on the Saturday. For so many, being back will mean the start of something resembling normality: runners will need to be vaxxed or show a negative test result, though.
