A Bit of Rock and Roll

The “Barrier of Spears” was formed roughly 200 million years ago when tectonic shifts broke up the supercontinent of Gondwana. Vast basalt layers were forced to the surface in what geologists think was the largest volcanic eruption of all time. Over the millennia, water and wind erosion have cut into this enormous plateau, creating the extraordinary landscape we see today.
