Getaway (South Africa)
We asked: What’s your favourite small town in Africa? (excluding South Africa)
So far it is Essaouira, in Morocco.
Lamu, towards the northern extreme of Kenya’s coast – there’s an otherworldliness, and a salt-of-theearth authenticity, too.
I thoroughly enjoyed Swakopmund some years ago, also Chobe and Francistown in Botswana.
Lüderitz, Swakopmund and a quaint little town called Aus in Namibia.
Lake Kivu in the Giyseni region, Rwanda and Lalibela, Ethiopia
