If you’re a fan of suspense and horror, you’re sure to love this apocalyptic sci-fi take on the novel by Stephen King, an author who dominates both genres. At heart, it’s an epic battle between good and evil, with gunslinger Roland Deschain (Idris Elba) on the hunt for the Man in Black (Matthew Mcconaughey), all while searching for the elusive and fabled Dark Tower on which the fate of his world depends. Expect supernatural creatures, big action and tension galore.

Atomic Blonde

Charlize Theron is at the top of her game in this high-stakes, high-action thriller. Strong, sensual and scary, she plays Lorraine Broughton, a British superspy tasked with investigating the deaths of MI6 operatives in Cold War Berlin, all on the eve of the Wall’s collapse. The great supporting cast includes James Mcavoy and John Goodman.

American Made

Working for the CIA, the DEA and drug lord Pablo Escobar at the same time means walking a crazy adrenaline- and cash-fuelled line, as former pilot Barry Seal (Tom Cruise) soon discovered. Based on a true story, this tight thriller focuses on the government operation which gave rise to the Medellín Cartel and almost brought down Ronald Reagan.

The Exception

An isolated mansion occupied by the exiled Kaiser Wilhelm II (Christopher Plummer) is the setting for this tense Nazi-era drama. Lily James plays Mieke de Jong, a Jewish spy, who finds an unlikely attraction to the German Captain Stefan Brandt (Jai Courtney). Love or loyalty? That is the nerve-jangling and heartbreaking question.
